It's #internationalwomensday 2021, and, sadly, we' It's #internationalwomensday 2021, and, sadly, we're still living in a world where the simple act of women telling their truth exposes the vile hatred towards us. Whether it's Meghan, Australian politics, or how #MeToo is still being talked about as going "too far" even though rape is effectively legal in the UK... we are scared of women speaking because we know their truth sheds uncomfortable light on disgusting abuses of power and privilege. Believe women. Celebrate and protect the women brave enough to simply speak. Comfort and fight for the women who spoke up but were silenced, marginalised, and disbelieved. Talking shouldn't be a revolutionary act, and yet it is, it is, it is.

Had the rather shocking news yesterday that @usbor Had the rather shocking news yesterday that @usborneya and I have just surpassed HALF A MILLION of my teen books sold. Once accounting for all the copies my mother has bought, I'd like to thank the other five of you... Seriously, I'm blown away by this. Writing books for teenagers is such a freakin' privilege; one I never take for granted. Thank you to every single reader, librarian, school librarian, bookseller, Usborne at Home seller, blogger, reviewer, journalist, teacher, and other authors who have supported me along the way. It's such a lovely milestone to have crossed just before The Yearbook comes out. I hope the stories have brought some of you relief, entertainment, laughter and understanding. And a HUGE thank-you to my amazing publisher, Usborne, and all the talented beans who work there, for building me book-by-book, reader-by-reader, the good ol' fashioned way. What a wonderful family to be a part of xxx
It's #EndometriosisAwarenessMonth this March, and It's #EndometriosisAwarenessMonth this March, and here's a picture of me, off my tits on painkillers, after FINALLY getting surgery for my endometriosis last autumn. It takes, on average, eight years to diagnose, even though it impacts at least one in ten women. Head over to @endometriosis.uk to get to know the symptoms, and help equip yourself with the info to push for the treatment you need. Some doctors are wonderful, but many are sadly still very dismissive of female pain. So much more awareness and research is needed. It took me ten years to get diagnosed and treated. But, now I'm gloriously pain free! It is life-changing!!! I don't like sharing personal stuff on here, but I truly hope this post helps #EndoTheStigma and empowers women and people with wombs to ensure their pain is taken seriously. And, do consider supporting endo charities as more research is so desperately needed.
Teachers and librarians and readers! I recorded a Teachers and librarians and readers! I recorded a virtual #BBCAuthorsLive with @bbcscotland, chatting about The Places I've Cried In Public, healthy relationships, and writing stories. It's now live on their website and can be used as teaching aids. Will post a link in my stories x
It's #WorldBookDay week next week, and I'm already It's #WorldBookDay week next week, and I'm already on the virtual school visits. It's so strange not to be dashing madly around the country, living off M&S sandwiches and percy pigs, and getting to meet all the wonderful students, librarians, and their nearest train stations. Instead I'm in the spare bedroom, with a cat who keeps licking her butthole behind me whenever I say anything important. Huge hats off to all the librarians working tirelessly to make this wonderful celebration of reading work in these mad times. xxx

Bargain book alert! As part of the #HollyBourne10 Bargain book alert! As part of the #HollyBourne10 celebrations, my feminist USA roadtrip romance novel 'How Hard Can Love Be?' is currently only 99p on Amazon kindle. Set in a Californian summer camp, it's got hot prom kings and sneaking out of cabins late at night, combined with feminist discussions about female chauvinist pigs. What more could you want to escape Lockdown 3.0. As you can see from these photos, I had a TERRIBLE time driving around America researching it! Link in stories x

Please please take 10 minutes to fill this out and Please please take 10 minutes to fill this out and pass this on. This week is Sexual Abuse & Sexual Violence Awareness Week and the government is holding an open consultation about the epidemic of violence against women and girls. We know so many women never tell authorities about what they've been through, so this is a chance to be heard and have it counted. Sometimes really important feminism is about filling in really dry forms. Please consider this your week's feminist assignment...telling those in power what you have seen, experienced, and what you know. Open to everyone, no matter how you identify. Tell your story. Make it count. Share widely. Thank you xxxx

Want to listen to me chat about books and mental h Want to listen to me chat about books and mental health? I'm delighted to have teamed up with RBWM Libraries to give my 'Kindness Is Contagious' talk for FREE this Wednesday at 7:30! This will be an online version of the talk I do about my novel 'Are We All Lemmings And Snowflakes?' where I explore the research I did for my book. Is mental illness preventable? What's the power of stories in holding us back but also setting us free? And why is self-compassion the most powerful tool in an activist's kit? Join me for what will hopefully be a lovely evening, delving into the deep stuff, with lots of laughs. All ages welcome, though it is pitched for teenagers. Register for a ticket following the link in my stories. See you on Wednesday!! #mentalhealth #mentalillness #kindnessiscontagious #snowflake
